The heavy, humid air of the South Georgia state park buzzed with the familiar hum of cicadas and family chatter as we gathered around the weathered picnic tables for our annual summer reunion. The centerpiece of the afternoon was a massive barbecue platter stacked high with tender chicken and fall-off-the-bone ribs, courtesy of Prairie Dog Brewing. Each smoky piece of meat was generously slathered in rich, tangy Braswell’s Bar-B-Que sauce, its sweet and savory glaze perfectly caramelizing under the July sun. With paper plates groaning under the weight of the feast and the sticky sauce covering everyone’s fingers, it truly tasted like the perfect Southern summer.
