A wonderful sunny afternoon view of this classic Candy Apple Red C3 1970 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
The first three coats are painted gold with 20 Candy Apple top coats. The car has a total of 23 coats of Candy, pls 3 coats of clear finish. The paint job is nothing less than spectacular and truly one of a kind. Guaranteed 1st place winner at any Car Show.
Body custom work includes Stainless steel slat from grill, refinished chrome bumpers, removed egg crated and installed 1969 side vents turned inside-out, appearance like shark gills, 1980 mounted side rear mirrors, red bullet tail lights, and custom stainless steel 40-gallon gas tank supported with roll cage surrounding tank. The tank is baffled preventing slosh, and provides a Viper gas cap that is truly custom to fit this car perfectly and functional.
The interior is totally custom with seats from a 1980 Corvette and finished in Camel-hair wool carpet. The glove box, air conditioning, ashtrays, and radio are removed and replaced with custom race gauges. Custom made Leather center console with gauges. The car still has a defroster that also functions as a heater, when needed. The black convertible rag top has been replaced with a matching cream Mercedes German canvas top which is fully functional.
The chassis is original, stripped down and corrosive coated. Every washer, nut, and bolt has been replaced with new and Teflon washers and bushings. The chassis has a welded roll bar for an extreme custom look and stability. The HRE wheels are custom made 18-inch wheels, made from three-piece aluminum and with real 14K gold plated bolts, surrounding the rim. Hugging the road are 4 brand new 18” Nitto Race Tires.
The suspension has been replaced with Vette brakes Products including a full Hi-Performance suspension, including fiberglass mono spring, off-set trailing arms, Poly Conversion kit and Poly Strut Rod Bushings.
The drive shaft, four-inch half shafts and rear ham (350gears) have been custom built by “Toms Axle” in California. The drive trainwill handle 1,200 horse power. The transmission is a Richmond Gear 5 speed, 1stgear is a hairy 1:1 (equivalent 410’s) with 350 gearing in 5th as overdrive. At2,700 RPM travels 67 to 70 MPH.
New, Original GM Bow Tie Big Block, bored, stroked and balanced to a 522 ci motor. 750hp with681hp to the rear wheels (have dyno sheets) and 660 torque. This motor has approximately 3,600 miles on it (5/2015). The crank is Eagle 4.0 crank with four bolt mains. Eagle 6.385 Rods, Manley Pro Pistons (4.560 bore & 150 dome) 10.50-to-1 compression. Manley valves. The Heads are Dart Pro-1, 345 aluminum cylinder heads with pocket port. Crane, full roller Cam, Lifters & Rockers. Dart Pro-1 single plane Intakemanifold, supporting a 1050 Dominator carburetor. (The engine runs on pump hi-test gas, but likes race fuel.) Cooling the beast at a constant 180’ are dual fans from a 93 Corvette with 60amp breakers.
This engine is completely built by “Zul Motors” in Babylon, New York. Richie Zul was a national drag racing champion in the 1970’s and builds high performance race boat motors for Cigarette’s. This motor can pushover 800 horsepower if desired without much additional cost.
