A stunning custom 1952 Jaguar XK120 roadster / convertible replica. It was built in 2007 by a company called antiques and collectibles. Since being built it has had a lot of custom work done including suspension, exhaust, engine, transmission, interior, stereo, wheels and under hood chrome. There were only 6,400 real XK120’s built between 1948-1954. One in this condition would of course be worth over $200,000. By the way this has been a dry weather California car since new.
There were only a few companies that offered these kits in the 80’s and 90’s. Antiques and collectibles of New York made the highest quality and closest resemblance of the real deal. They stopped offering the XK120 kit around 2007(this is one of the last ones ever made). The antiques and collectibles kits are the most sought after and are becoming very hard to find. This is the only one I have actually ever seen that is what you would call a resto mod.
The cars body is made of fiberglass coated with British racing green gel coat. These were made to use a Mustang 11 as a donor. The suspension, brakes, steering, wiring harness and rear end are all mustang 11. The parts didn’t come from a used donor car like you will find with 90% of these kit cars but in fact are all newer parts. The car has only 8.500 kilometers(a little over 5,000 miles original miles) since built in 2007. The engine, transmission, suspension, wheels/tires, performance upgrades, chrome accessories and exhaust have only about 2k miles on them. This car is California smog exempt and has a B.A.R. identification tag on the fire wall.
The interior and exterior are in excellent condition. The interior is like new with no wear, lines in the leather, rips, tears or stains. The British racing green exterior is in excellent shape and very glossy. Then again what do you expect? It has been garaged since new in 2007.
There are no noticeable scratches or chips, just your normal imperfections you will find on any darker colored car. All of the aluminum bumpers, chrome and glass are like new. In fact the front grill is actually off of a real XK140 worth over $1,500 in its current condition(the grill was restored and is like new).
The engine is a new 300hp Corvette crate motor paired with a TCI Chevy 350 turbo 3 speed automatic transmission with shift kit. The engine as you can see is nicely dressed with a lot of chrome and Edelbrock performance parts. It has an Edelbrock manifold, carburetor, chrome air cleaner, valve covers, oil dipstick and more.
It also has custom headers 2 1/4″ exhaust with turbo mufflers and chevy exhaust tips extensions. It has billet pulleys, a chrome alternator, 2 row aluminum radiator, electric fans, chrome thermostat cover, an electric fuel pump and more. All of the custom parts listed have less than 2k miles on them. Most parts came from Summit including the new crate engine and transmission.
The suspension is adjustable. It has adjustable coil over springs in the front and air struts in the rear. The front can be lowered or raised by spinning the adjustable coupling and the rear by adding or releasing air from the bag valves located in the trunk.
The car has front disc brakes and rear drum. The brakes that were originally on the car when built in 2007 were from a donor Mustang but now have all been replaced with new parts even down to the brake lines. The wheels are B/G classic Cragar style Coke bottle style wheels with Hankook tires.
The wood grain on the doors as well as dash and center console are all custom fabricated. The car never came equipped with a radio or speakers. Its not much but it has a nice aftermarket CD player and Kenwood speakers in the doors.
This is the only XK120 kit that actually comes with nice upholstery. As you can see the seats are very sporty as well as appealing. If you do a search for either an original XK120 or other kits you will see that the interior is very bland and cheap looking.
This car is very quick, sounds great, is super clean(has won many trophies in the last year) and is unlike any other car you will see on the road. I get stares, honks and questions anywhere I go with this Jag. This is your chance to own what looks like a $200,000 plus car at only a fraction of the price.
With as much as a real one is worth I highly doubt you would ever want to drive it. This is the best of both worlds. Plus it isn’t plain Jane like the rest of the other XK’s you will see. This one is completely custom and has style!!!
